End Of Day Thursdays: A Definitive Club Night
End of Day (EOD) Thursdays offers the excitement of the dance club experience but tailored for those balancing professional, school, and family responsibilities. Starting at 5 p.m. and ending by 11, EOD presents a fresh take on late-night dance clubs, aiming to reach a wider and more diverse audience.
The Experience
“It adds that much more to one’s day, serving as the perfect conclusion to the EOD (End of Day) by providing a space for music enthusiasts to gather and celebrate their shared passion for music, art, and the genuine connections of ‘in real life’ (IRL) friendships.” – Disco Dianna
Expect a diverse range of music genres including house (happy house, vocal house, deep house, hip house), disco, electronic, acid jazz, funk, soul, hip hop, and jazz. All music is played on a state-of-the-art “Motion” Void Sound System, a one-of-a-kind design in North America and one of the elite sound systems on the West Coast.
EOD is influenced by the experience of bringing club culture into a more rarefied space. DJ Spun, for example, curated MoMa PS1’s Warm Up in New York, setting experimental and electronic music alongside contemporary art and design. This multigenerational experience has inspired a different approach to dancing, potentially more expressive, interactive, and deeper on a social level.
About the Hosts
Host Micha produced the first late-night dance party at SFMOMA in 1998 to showcase the Keith Haring retrospective to a fresh new audience. For Micha, EOD offers an opportunity to dance to music she loves and wrap it up early enough to be home at a respectable time. It’s a chance to hang out with friends, curate a space where others can enjoy the music, and truly feel a sense of belonging.
The Venue
Hawthorn, located in a section of San Francisco once famous for its brothels, now embodies modern urban luxury with rich textures, Austrian drapes, deep purple ceiling swathes, and lounge seating throughout. The venue provides a mature space for electronic music enthusiasts, offering seating, dining options, and finishing in time to catch the last BART home.
Event Schedule
EOD launches on May 2nd with an evening of DJ Spun and Ken Vulsion, followed by legendary DJ Steve Fabus on May 9, chillroom culture with Ambient Mafia on May 16, Burning Man vibes from Opulent Temple on May 23, and finishing the month with discotheque collective Love Bizarre on May 30.
